The Visitor started its life as an abstract acrylic painting inspired by artist Jesse Reno. With lockdown meaning we could no longer access the school’s art supplies, art students were forced to complete our pieces digitally at home. What resulted was a bizarre artistic response to loneliness and intense ‘sameness’ experienced during lockdown. This piece grew slowly at first, and then changed almost completely within two nights, conceptually and visually. In the end, I simply wanted to present a scene of love, loss and hope, an amalgam of some of the world’s collective feelings throughout lockdown.
