Celebrate NAIDOC Week through a curated selection of contemporary First Nations design and storytelling, featuring works by Jennifer Kent (Manamana Dreaming) and Renee Mead (Murri Girl Designs).
Grounded in culture, community and creative practice, these artists bring forward works that embody connection to Country, identity and the strength of cultural knowledge.
Jennifer Kent is a contemporary First Nations Arts Practitioner who explores narrative through pattern, colour, nature and symbolism. Her work reflects connection to country and kinship, offering visual expressions that invite reflection, learning and respect for cultural knowledge. Jennifer has a unique story telling attribute that allows her to engage and relate to a wide range of audiences and has an extensive professional portfolio.
Renee Mead is the artist behind Murri Girl Designs. Her practice explores storytelling, connection, and sustainability through printmaking, upcycling, and contemporary art processes. Renee creates work that encourages conversation, reflection, and a deeper appreciation for the stories carried within people, materials, and landscapes.
Through textiles, surface design and wearable pieces, their work translates story into form—honouring tradition while embracing contemporary expression.Together, these artists present a collection that is both personal and collective—celebrating culture, creativity and the ongoing presence of First Nations voices in contemporary design and art.

The First Nations pop‑up will run from 2 July to 16 August, presented alongside Caloundra Gallery’s upcoming exhibition, Lore and Land: Works by First Nations Artists in the Sunshine Coast Art Collection. You can visit the pop-up during gallery open hours: Tuesday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, weekends, 10am to 2pm.
